Bill Sleight

William Sleight was appointed Director of Michigan Works! Southeast in May 2016. Sleight’s career in workforce development spans nearly 40 years. Previously he served as Director of Livingston County Michigan Works! for 25 years, and in various roles prior to that for the workforce programs in Livingston and Washtenaw Counties. He has served on numerous state, local and regional boards and committees, and is the founding co-chair of the Workforce Intelligence Network for Southeast Michigan, and the current chair of the Southeast Michigan Works Agencies Council (SEMWAC). He earned a Masters in Public Administration from Michigan State University.

Shamar Herron

Deputy Director

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Shamar Herron learned very quickly that he had options. He could let his unfavorable surroundings dictate his future, or he could forge his own path. Shamar chose the latter and began working hard towards his success. After growing six inches in one summer, Herron knew his passion for basketball could help him achieve his goals. After a long process, Shamar chose to attend The Ohio State University, where he helped lead his basketball team to the NCAA Final Four in 1999. While Shamar saw minimal time on the court, he was a consummate and dependable teammate. That skill is one of his best traits in the business world. As the Deputy Director of Michigan Works! Southeast, Shamar leads teams that focus on helping people craft and achieve their goals toward a career and connecting talent to business needs. Mr. Herron also serves as a liaison between executive thought and day to day outputs. His background in economic development, mentoring, and data analysis allows him to play in a variety of arenas. Shamar sits on multiple boards from Youth development to Prisoner reentry. Working with the Director, Shamar will continue to learn and grow as a member of this team!

Johnny Epps

Washtenaw Service Center Manager

Johnny Epps is the Service Center Manager here in Washtenaw County for Michigan Works! Southeast. Johnny is a native of Ypsilanti, MI but after getting his Bachelor’s from Missouri State he played professional basketball overseas. Some countries that he played in were China, Taiwan, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Macedonia, and the Dominican Republic. After his playing days he coached high school basketball both women’s and men’s at the varsity and junior varsity level. He currently is the varsity baseball coach at Ypsilanti Community High. After working for Washtenaw County Children Services he has been the Service Center Manager for the past 7 years and he has a great connection with customers that comes to the Service Center and his co-workers. “It is a privilege to work with great people and assisting others by giving them the resources or guidance to make their lives better.”

Pam Gosla

Research and Education Manager

Having spent much of her youth living in various countries, Pam enjoys traveling and even learned to fly single engine aircraft long before mastering travel on the roadways. When unable to hit the road or the skyways, Pam turns to reading to quench her wanderlust which leads to years spent earning a degree in Education as a teacher, with a MA in Educational Leadership, with post-graduate hours in research analysis and training in Futuring. This educational background led to employment ranging from teaching and Director of Adult Education Learning Lab at Bedford Public Schools to Serving as the Pacific Regional Director for Central Texas College in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After leaving Hawaii, Pam moved on to serving as the Dean of Evening and Continuing Education for the New Hampshire Community Technical College which connected with her current focus in workforce development. She has been serving in workforce development and has been the Research and Education Manager since 2002. She is thrilled to see individuals realize that they are able to achieve what they desire if they apply themselves and dare to dream. Nothing inspires her more than to talk with others and hear how they interrupt life events and see them discover that they are only limited by themselves. She has always been a firm believer in the “dare to dream” philosophy and while she relishes in seeing others achieve their goals and helping them along their path, she prefers to assist quietly from the background to allow individuals to flourish.

Angela Watkins

Jackson Service Center Manager

Angela Watkins is the Services Center Manager that guides the services of programs in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Trade Assistance Act, Employment Services, Partnership Accountability Training and Hope offer at Michigan Works Southeast. She has a Bachelor degree in Family Life Education from Spring Arbor University, She has utilized her degree in her fourteen years of services in Workforce development in various program such as WIOA, Youth and PATH. She is a wife, mother and grandmother who enjoys spending time with her family. She is an active member in her church, and service as a member of the Financial Stability Coalition whose goal is to help Jackson County residents build their pathways to financial stability. After serving for eleven years in the US Army she believes in giving her time and service to others.

Maggie Flaherty

Administrative Services Manager

Maggie most recent job title is Administrative Services Manager. Maggie has 25+ years in Workforce Development. Maggie graduated from Siena Heights University (College). Maggie spare time is fun filled with college sports - especially football. Maggie is inspired by those individuals without an ego. Maggie has been privileged to work with dedicated workforce development board members, consortium board members and fellow staff. Maggie did not realize there is a university in Ann Arbor.

Robin Aldrich

Information Technology Manager

Robin is the IT Manager at Michigan Works! Southeast, serving in this capacity since March 2015. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology Management and two Master’s Degrees in Social Work. Robin is Michigan born and currently resides in Lenawee County. While her focus is work, she also enjoys spending time with her three sons. She also enjoys traveling, music, movies, and reading.

Misty Shulters

Misty is our Service Center Manager in Lenawee County. She has worked in workforce development for nearly a decade, starting out as a PATH career advisor. She is a Baker College graduate with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and an Associate’s in Computer Networking. The opportunity for a new start or a second chance is what keeps Misty inspired in her workforce development career. The favorite part of her job is running into a former customer and hearing how well they are doing. It is such a reward to know that we played a small part in their big life change! In her spare time, Misty loves to spend hot days at the pool with her family and cooler days on the golf course with her husband.

Jim Coutu

James has 22 years experience in workforce development and private sector manufacturing. This experience allows him to navigate workforce development programs to provide strategic state and local resources to Michigan businesses. He has earned a Bachelor’s of Organizational Management form Spring Arbor University, alongside Business Administration and Accounting degrees from Jackson College. He is also a Certified Business Solutions Professional. Jim serves on the Board of Directors for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and is dedicated to the success and growth of local and regional Michigan employers.

Sandy Vallance

Sandy Vallance has lived most of her life in Hillsdale, Michigan and currently holds the Program Services Manger position for MWSE! She has been in Workforce Development for 15 years and completed her Bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University in Organizational Management. She loves to be outside, with the exception of the Winter season. Sandy is inspired by people that have had tough roads to travel, and have overcome and are successful, in spite of the rough times. Sandy loves working in this field and truly believes that what MWSE! does make a difference. She has a way of making people smile and laugh with her quirky sense of humor.

Nicole Bell

Nicole has 13 years of experience in the field of Workforce Development. Starting in high school as an after school job in Muskegon, she has since worked in multiple capacities in this field, where she is now the Communications Manager. Nicole graduated with her A.A.S. from Muskegon Community College and is currently enrolled at Spring Arbor University in the Organizational Management Program. In her spare time, she enjoys taking full advantage of our beautiful State with her husband. The two of them share hobbies such as hunting, 4-wheeling, ice fishing and volunteering at their local sportsman’s club. She is inspired by the reality that we have the full ability to make our life as great as we want by hard work and dedication to what matters to us. She loves working for an organization where we make what may seem impossible, possible. When asked to name one quirky thing about her she said “Something quirky about me is that my favorite annual vacation is with my family, spent in the Upper Peninsula, Bear Hunting.”

Janet Myers

“Janet is the Service Center Manager for Michigan Works! Southeast Hillsdale location. She was born and raised in Hillsdale. After having lived in Columbus, Ohio for two years, decided to move back to Hillsdale because it was a great community in which to raise her two sons. Janet started in the field of Workforce Development 18 years ago after becoming a Dislocated Worker due to downsizing in the manufacturing field. This experience, which at the time was devastating, turned out to be an opportunity to help others who are now going through the same or similar situation. When not at work, you can find Janet at various sporting events to watch and support her grandchildren.”

Justin Al-Igoe

Livingston Service Center Manager & Policy and Planning Manager

Justin is the Policy and Planning Manager for Michigan Works! Southeast where he works closely with other managers and staff members to develop programs and standards to effectively serve the job seekers and employers of the five counties in Michigan Works! Southeast. Previously, he was the Assistant Director for Livingston County Michigan Works! Justin is a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan and a M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Washtenaw County.

Cordelia Gonzalez

Fiscal Manager

Cordelia is a native of Michigan and recently moved back here after being away for over 30 years. She has a B.A. in Business from Michigan State University. Cordelia has an extensive background in government and grant accounting which she gained while living in Minnesota and Illinois. She started working as an accountant for Workforce Development after being out of work for two years. She likes to read and watch the news so she can stay informed on what goes on in her community. Cordelia is passionate about children and young people and as time permits, would like to become more involved with them in the community. She is married and has two adult children.

Lisa McAllister

Human Resources Manager

She has several years of HR experience and nearly three years as a PATH Career Advisor. Lisa received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and recently earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-CP certifications. Her interest in HR is motivated by her desire to help employers be as successful as possible by finding, retaining and developing their greatest resource - their employees - and her enthusiasm for promoting an environment where employees enjoy, succeed and thrive in their careers. Lisa and her two sons recently returned to Michigan after spending ten years in Wichita, Kansas.
