Following the loss of his grandfather and an unexpected move to Michigan, Dariq set out to create a successful, positive future for himself and his younger brother.
Through the WIOA Out-of-School Youth Program, Dariq was connected with Dochas II, who helped him obtain his necessary identification documents — including a Michigan state ID, birth certificate and Social Security card. Community Action Agency also helped him and his brother secure stable housing, allowing him to focus on the future he was set out to build for himself.
Michigan Works provided Dariq with job-readiness support, including the Michigan Internship course, that helped him land his current job at Marsh Brothers in Quincy, MI. After a successful six months working there, Dariq is dedicated to learning and hopes to eventually grow into a mechanic position.
Dariq is working proof that with a little support — and a lot of determination and positivity, the opportunities are endless.
