College Programming available for little to no cost for eligible individuals through Jackson College and Michigan Works! Southeast’s collaboration, Connect with My Future.

HILLSDALE, JACKSON & LENAWEE, MI – Prospective students can complete a college certificate in 12 months or less for little to no cost, putting them on the road to career opportunities and a brighter future, through Connect with my Future.

“This innovative collaboration streamlines the approach for our community members to gain access to industry recognized certificates while leveraging maximum return on a variety of state and local funding streams,” said Shamar Herron, Executive Director, Michigan Works! Southeast.  “In collaboration with Jackson College, we are able to continue supporting the Governor’s Sixty by 30 Initiative, connecting MiReconnect and Future for Frontliners eligible individuals to our career services and access to thousands of career options in our region,” said Herron.

Connect with My Future is designed for those who: are currently enrolled in classes and in need of financial help with tuition, books, fees, uniforms, etc., have some credits and want to return to college; are unemployed or recently laid-off and seeking training opportunities, need to complete a High School Diploma or equivalency and looking to move into a new career; and/or are interested in attending college for the first time.  To learn if you are eligible, visit: www.jccmi.edu/connect-with-my-future.

“Sometimes knowing where to start is the hardest part, especially for those wanting to come back to school, experiencing unemployment, or those with financial barriers,” said Tina Matz, Director of Workforce Training, Jackson College. “This collaboration makes it easier for individuals wanting to attend college or earn their high school equivalency to reach out and express their interest. Once they do, we provide guidance and support every step of the way. As employers are in dire need of skilled employees, now is the time to earn a certificate or degree for little to no cost, paving the way to a life-changing career.

Those without a high school diploma are eligible for expanded services to help them obtain a high school equivalency certificate while they are pursuing a college degree or certificate.
