Michigan Works! Southeast Collaborates with Jackson College to Connect Job Seekers to Healthcare Employers in Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties

HILLSDALE, JACKSON, & LENAWEE, MI – Dozens of area employers in the healthcare industry will connect with hundreds of job seekers through the upcoming Healthcare Heroes Virtual Job Fair, a collaboration between Michigan Works! Southeast, Jackson College, and the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity (LEO).  The event will be held Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021.

“The Healthcare Heroes job fair is for everyone, no matter the amount of experience you have. With the immediate need for healthcare workers, this is a great way to speak directly with employers. We hope to see our students, their families, and friends take advantage of this opportunity!“ said Tina Matz, Director of Workforce Training for Jackson College.

Employers began registering in early January and will be meeting with job seekers at the virtual event.  Participating employers will run the gamut of the healthcare industry from home care to nursing.  Many positions require little or no previous healthcare experience.

Job seekers can participate by registering at mwse.org/healthcare-heroes.  In addition, job seekers can register for the Virtual Job Fair Prep Week – a four-day course that will take place in the week leading up to the virtual job fair in late February.

“In preparation for the Healthcare Heroes Virtual Job Fair, a week of free workshops are ready to help job seekers prepare for success,” says Sunshine Plato, a Career Advisor at MWSE’s Lenawee office.  “Focused on the healthcare field, the week begins with resume and virtual interviewing workshops and finishes with a mock interview,” says Plato.

Employers and job seekers can visit mwse.org/healthcare-heroes to learn more about the event and job seekers can register there to attend.

Michigan Works! Southeast connects employers and job seekers to a better future in Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston and Washtenaw Counties as part of a statewide Michigan Works! system.
